This class is an experiential, hands on, “get a little messy” beginners introduction to oil painting basics. Students will learn the necessary foundations in the application of oil paint while examining canvas types and preparation, brush types, palette types, mixing colors, and color values. This class will set you on a clear path to painting with gusto!

Class Length: 4 Weeks
Gray Matters 50 sheet paper palette by Richeson or regular wooden or plastic palette
Small bottle of Liquin 75ml
8 or 16 oz Gamsol (if you can’t get Gamsol get an odorless turpentine or turpentine substitute from MIchaels.)
2-Medium cups(no lids)
11 x 14 canvas panels. First we'll practice and play, then you will be shown the value of good canvas.
3-5 oil painting brushes ( small (size 4-6 filbert, flat size 6-8, filbert, #9 (about the size of your pointer finger).
If you have art supplies, bring what you have.
